Helzberg Entrepeneurial Mentoring Program

For 23 Years, The Helzberg Entrepreneurial Mentoring Program (HEMP), Founded by Barnett Helzberg, Jr., Has Been Assisting Owners of Local Kansas City Area Companies with Mentoring Advice and Tailored Growth Strategies.

HEMP couples highly successful, like-minded business mentors with selected local owners, to promote professional development and foster local business growth.

Annually, hundreds of local business owners apply for the HEMP program, but only twenty are selected. This year, Mitch Rice, Vice President of Commercial Capital Company, LLC has been chosen as one of the twenty HEMP mentorship recipients.

Mitch joined forces with his father Larry Rice, fifteen years ago at Commercial Capital, a Lenexa-based equipment lease-finance company with twenty employees. Together, they’ve consistently grown Commercial Capital, now having assisted over 25,000 businesses to purchase equipment through lease-financing. In 2014, Mitch was only the 200th person in the world to have achieved a CLP designation, Certified Leasing Professional, the highest industry designation.

Mitch looks forward to working with HEMP’s business leader-mentors to grow Commercial Capital, and receiving expert advice in furthering his professional skills. Upon completion of the program, Mitch anticipates giving back by becoming a mentor for others, and so to add to the growing circle of success in Kansas City.
